The foraging behaviour of a wintering Red Kite population in Doñana was studied in two periods with different food availability. Diet, daily activity, habitat use, and flight and aggregation patterns were examined in both periods. Variations in the diet reflected changes in prey mortality. When carrion availability decreased, food diversity, foraging activity and amount of time spent searching in unfavourable habitats increased, and energy-saving flight patterns were employed more frequently.
